Commentary
In securities finance, volumes, values and complexity continue to grow while industry participants look to manage risk and make the most effective use of capital. Global equity finance and repo trading and operations platforms are increasingly important in competing in a one-global-book environment. Compliance initiatives in the U.S. and Europe are a cost of doing business and firms are looking for turnkey solutions that help them to focus on doing business.
In risk management, both market and credit risk management are at the core of ensuring that global firms meet both internal and regulatory risk controls. Enterprise risk management is complex and demanding, requiring connectivity with many systems and pools of data, and swift response times for trading.
The multi-instrument and derivatives-driven capital markets of today require cross-asset, enterprise level technology. The interplay of internal and external trading technologies and networks continues to grow in importance, as does the ability to automate all downstream activity and reconciliations. Firms need to be able to extend trading solutions to add instruments or valuation methodologies quickly, without waiting for the next release. The challenge for the industry is implementing horizontal solutions with deep vertical functionality and agile extensions that fit into an overall trading framework.
