Soren Mortensen is a director of SunGard Consulting Services. His more than eighteen years of experience in global financial markets has given him expertise in data management for regulatory compliance (Basel II and Solvency II), risk management, business process re-engineering and the management of complex post-merger integrations of global financial organizations. Recently, Mr. Mortensen developed the SunGard data management offering for Solvency II compliance in partnership with the SunGard iWorks risk management practice.
Mr. Mortensen previously worked in the financial services industry, with institutions such as Morgan Stanley International and Paribas Capital Markets. He has spent over fifteen years delivering enterprise-wide risk management projects for financial institutions both in Europe and globally, and is known for bringing a practitioner's view to his projects.
Commentary
Business infrastructures are being tested in current economic conditions which increase the requirements to identify partners who have the practical industry expertise, knowledge of business processes, and advanced technology skills to deploy tangible business and IT solutions quickly and with limited project risk.
The insurance industry can learn from the challenges that the banking industry faced in regards to data management for regulatory compliance, thus saving time and cost whilst minimizing project delivery risk.
